I have 1966 ford 2000, the lift will raise when you crank the tractor and stay, I have no control on the lift. The only way to lower the lift is to loosen the bolt under the seat, to let the pressure off, squirts oil as I do this. The lift has worked normal, I did notice a chattering noise the last couple of times using the tractor, however the lift was working. The oil is brownish to slightly milky.Any ideas?

Sounds like a valve is stuck. Be sure the filter is clean. You'll probably have to remove the seat, take out all the bolts around the perimeter of the hydraulic controls cover, disconnect the rock shafts from the 3 point hitch, carefully remove the cover, turn it over and be sure the valve is free to move in and out. Best that you let a qualified mechanic do this.
