Im trying to order a starter for my ford 1900. The starter supply says he needs a serial number off of the starter. The problem is that i dont have a starter on my 1900. Could anyone give me advice on how to get another starter without going to thru ford dealership. They want $$ and ive never seen or heard if this machine run. Thanks.

try calling your local napa auto parts dealer! I work at napa and we carry a very extensive line of starters and alternators! if you give me year,make,model,and motor i can post the part numbers and pictures to verify if correct. sometimes you can use another starter that is the same but slightly different(and cheaper!!) I KNOW CUZ I JUST GOT A STARTER FOR MY 4610 AND THE ONE FOR IT WAS $300.00 AND USING WILSON ELECTRICS( A NAPA SUPPLIER) WEBSITE IT GAVE ME A CAN USE PART NUMBER!! its was $140.00!!!!

A picture won't do any good because he doesn't have a starter to compare to. It's a Ford 1900 tractor. It only was built with one motor, and if you have a starter listing for it, there will only be one.
TO the original poster
Find a dealer for Atlantic electrical components, they probably have a listing for that starter by giving the tractor make and model. And it will be about 1/2 of the outrageous OEM price. Your New Holland dealer may very well carry Atlantic as an aftermarket source. Atlantic components are new knockoffs, not rebuilt or remanufactured.
