Ford 1720 Clutch

Are all Ford 1720 tractors doomed to have a dual stage clutch? I know the run on these tractors were from 87/99,i have a 1990 and according to the $26 service manual I could have either dual or single stage.My modle #AL413A. I've determined the clutch needs replacing and don't want to order the wrong clutck and release /pilot bearings.Any help with making the right call would be appreciated.

AFAIK the 12x12 has a double clutch and the 9x3 has a single clutch. A single clutch will stop travel and the PTO concurrently, a double clutch will not. If in doubt, split the tractor before ordering parts. Yeah, I know, you don’t want to do that.

Thanks for your response.I took the steering column panels off and did not see any rubber grommets to take a look see. I read that in the service manual,but hadn’t had a chance to look at till today. Kinda recovering from a crash on my mini bike that I upgraded from the junk 3hp to the Predator 6.5hp,got a unintended wheelie that got away from me I知 glad I left the governor on I壇 be in traction

I’ll take a look at that,I’m thinking the left hand side possibly. And I do have a loader,but was thinking it would be located on bell housing or similar place.

If your 1720 is the same as my 1920, and I think it is.....
The clutch inspection plate IS behind the Left side loader mount.
You cannot see it until you remove the left side loader mount.
