I spoke to the local NH dealer today and he wants $572 for the kit to add a rear hydraulic hook up to my Ford 1720. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

All I want to do is run a log splitter, so figure I'll just buy some hose and fittings, and figure it out myself... Anyone do this before, and can you offer any sage words?

If it makes a difference, I do have a Ford 1708 front loader on this tractor as well.

I have rear hydraulics and run my logsplitter there.

But, you can get some longer hoses, hook them to the quick disconnects on the loader, and bungee-cord the joystick into place. Hoses and fitting will definitely be cheaper.

Or you could buy a PTO hydraulic pump. Check northern tools. It will be much faster (GPM) than the tractor. You will need a reservoir on the splitter if you go with the PTO pump

If you have a loader.. sounds like you alreade have a diverter valve on the power side of the pump. For that matter.. it shouldn't be to hard to make up a set of hoses that plug into your loader spool control, and just do it like that.. like another member mentioned.

Cylinder size on the log splitter and your pumps gpm will determine speed..
