My throw bearing is making noise when I press the clutch. Has anyone done a clutch job on the 1700? Ive done plenty of clutch jobs in cars and trucks being a mechanic for 20 plus years. Im not concerned with the ability to do it, just some input on what I might expect to run into when taking it apart. Thanks! Tex

hey Tex,

I have not done tractor split on my 1700... come to thing of it I've never done any tractor split in my life:D:D saying that I have done several clutch changes on rear and front wheel drive cars. I think 1700 would be much easier job than doing on my Honda clutch. Double clutch should cost about $800 and single clutch kit about $280 and the clutch disk itself is about $80. The bearing are no more than $25. But before you take a dive take a rubber cover off the right side of the tranny and take a peek inside, that might give you some clues. I have looked at my 1700 to see how I can do it should I need it down the road and I find it not difficult , provided you have a flat concrete floor, jack stands, floor jack and you should be good to go. If I had to do it I'd put my carry all in the back, lower it and park it on the floor where everything is flat and pull the front to separate, I hate the back end to back flip:eek:

I think I've got plenty of clutch pad, hope my bearing will last that long.

Thanks JC, too bad there isnt a grease fitting for the bearing. Its been a little noisy for awhile and works fine. Im not in a real big hurry to do it, but I can see it coming in the future. Thanks, Tex
