Tractor
Ford 1700
Well its been a long road with this tractor, through many glow plugs, a rebuilt fuel injector pump, rebuilt injectors, fixed crack in head and reground valves, motor taken out and rebuilt and new clutch installed. Just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. After setting the lash and bleeding the fuel lines I turned it over and started it up for about. 10 seconds just to be cautious. Seeing oil being pumped up to the valves was a good site. But now, I started it up and it runs for about 30 seconds and peters out. It sounds good when it revs up and idles for about the same time 20 to 30 seconds and dies. I did not bleed the hydraulics yet but that should not make a difference I think. I re bled the lines again and verified i do have fuel at the injectors. I did take the line off before the injector pump to check flow and i think it looks ok it comes out about 3/4 full from the fuel line. Any thoughts of things l could try

If u have a 3 piece fuel filter w the long bolt that goes thru the center and holds it all together..??
MAKE SURE the top oring is UP IN the filter head.. NOT ON the filter..
The TOP oring must go UP IN the groove in the filter head.!
Good luck.

It sounds like it's fuel related. I'd keep looking at the supply.

Thanks, going to remove the filter bowl and have a look where the fuel comes in and leaves the filter and look at the fuel lines and drain the tank and check out the fuel shut off valve

It may have a screen in top above fuel bowl. Valve clogged. Blow through the fuel supply lines. If it has sat around fuel may have become gummy. The valve comes off the tank. Ive seen things that get gas canned tend to have dirt in them. We have a 1900 bought in the Jimmy Carter days, moved up from the 8N. Truck patched a forty until granddaddy passed. Dad bought it from the rest of the family. We have a large farm now and several big tractors. The 1900 still makes the garden. Pull a lot of trailers around with it. It's been a good tractor. We did put the battery in a marine plastic box many years ago. It was pulling battery acid into radiator. Does good on fuel too.
