Ford 1700 diesel 4wd
My 1700 diesel quit working, I started to pull the pump and screwed up the timing. We got that straightened out however now it overheats about 15 minutes after putting it in gear. It can run 2 hours in neutral without overheating. Any ideas to what could be wrong? I checked the radiator and it has 80% flow and has been cleaned.

I have a 1700, but have no clue what could be wrong with yours, someone recently had a cracked head and I think that caused some overheating issues, cracked head is a common problem with these engines.

My Ford 1600 had a similiar issue, ended up being the head gasket.

Thanks, I am thinking probably the head gasket since it did not do this prior to it stalling and then me pulling the fuel pump. I atleast hope it is that and not a cracked head!
