Ford 1700 Don\'t Steer No More...

The steering gear box on my 1700 finally gave out after years of faithful service /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It seems Ford no longer carries parts for this model and all the local boneyards don't seem to have one either...

I haven't taken the time to tear it down and see exactly what is needed...wanted to locate parts availabity and try to do the whole job at one time...I've got way too many "Projects In Progress" to open another one /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Can anyone help me or "Steer" me in the right direction

I dont know who told these parts are not available..There was two different steering boxes on these tractors depending on what year yours is.. I just looked and most parts are available for the older box and all for the newer one...if for some reason you had a part that was not available in the older box I believe you can replace that box with the newer one. Maybe your dealer just thought he could sell you a new tractor if he told you parts where no longer avaiable. I have seen this happen before with dealers.

Now there is a dealer that I wouldn't be too thrilled to do business with in the future. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
