I have sputtered metal onto my Stanley replacement muffler for my 1510, and it is now pretty noisy and internally rotten. So I have a couple of choices:

1. Get dimensions from someone who has muffler design software for 3 cylinders and at the RPM of the 1510, and fabricate a muffler out of stainless sheet metal.
2. Buy from New Holland. Not acceptable, due to cost.
3. Buy an aftermarket close for $53 to $297. Amazon alone carries at least 6 different models.
4. Get better ear protection.

I am thinking #3. But how do I choose? The good thing is that I now have the tractor parked in a barn, for the first time since 1984. I sleep better at night.

Also, has anyone seen the curved tips, so that I can blow the exhaust away from me, and keep rain from getting into the muffler. Of course, that is less of a problem with it now parked in the barn.

Has anyone else agonized through this decision process recently (like the last 5 years) with any recommendations?

I have a 1210 and replaced the original horizontal muffler with a DIY vertical exhaust. Rather than a curved end mine is straight up with a flapper. With the factory setup the exhaust could get really annoying. With the straight up it isn't an issue anymore. The Cherry Bomb muffler is not as quiet as the factory muffler.
