Hi All,

I'm servicing my recently purchased Ford 1100. I will use 10w-40 for the engine oil but I'm curious to know what would be best for both the transmission and front axle (4wd)? I was told 134D or 303 Tractor Hydraulic oil (rear axle and transmission).

Lastly, what about the coolant?

Thanks,
Brady

Don't use any thing that only claims to meet the 303 spec.
Look for something that meets the newer John Deere J20C or J20D spec, or the Kubota SUDT spec.
The 303 spec was made for whale oil which is obviously no longer used so anything that claims to meet the 303 specs is lying.
The new specs have superseded the 303 spec and will provide better protection for the gears in your transmission.

For engine oil, most any good name will work. I like the Rotella T6 5-W40 up here where it's cold in the winter as things seem to start happier with that. But most anything on the market today from a reputable brand will probably be better than the oil that that engine was designed to use.

For coolant, I believe we are currently using Prestone Final Charge and have been happy with it.

Thank you for replying.

I did some research and it seems Shell Spirax s4 TXM or Rotella HD Tractor would also work.

Again thanks... Brady
