For those with a HTL, a way to get unstuck?

Anyone ever used thier hydraulic top link with a clevis as sort of a come along to unstick yourself under power? Or would that be too much stress on the mounting housing?

That's something I personally wouldn't attempt. Stess on the housing would be the least of my concerns.

Flipping over and getting crushed by the tractor would be my first thought.

Care to draw a diagram and post just how you would use it to gain much ground if stuck? A few inches at a time shouldn't flip anything over as mentioned. A steady load shouldn't break anything.
Just not figuring how it would help much getting "unstuck". ??

Was more or less thinking of using a clevis on the end of the htl shaft and a chain to a near by tree or spike, i have 18" of travel so that is quite a bit of pull at a time until you relength the chain. I was mainly thinking for me becuase i have turf tires and i use it in ground that some times has a couple inches of oily slick mud and just alittle bit of pull would get her moving again. This is all assuming the loader is off. I dunno just an idea as i was staring at the back of the tractor today.

That is a long stroke of the HTL.
Keep in mind, as Don87 pointed out, that this will have a "flipping" effect on the tractor, especially without the FEL. But if me, and I was stuck, it would be worth a good college try.

Please emphasize this, and add the words "very high" between the 'A' and the 'quotation marks'.

I just don't want to see anyone get hurt.

I agree that I personally would try it (in a pinch), but I would never recommend anyone else do it.

Likely a better plan would be to fasten a snatch block (pulley) to the tractor drawbar, and use the 3 ph arms to lift and draw a cable through that pulley and drag the tractor back toward whatever fastened to (a tree ? ). That will drag back at a low point and avoid rotation around the axle.

My thoughts, I very rarely have the FEL off and even more rare is not having something connected to the 3ph, thus using the HTL.

...but I figure that it could be used by attaching a chain to the implement on the tractor... such as, anchor the BB on the ground and push the HTL out, attach chain to a tree, retract HTL... repeat??? might have to remember that

I try not to go where I "might" get stuck... mainly don't want to tear up the ground.

We have some soil like that, we call it Gumbo, around here and I would not hesitate trying a HTL on some tractors, but like Don87 would hesitate recommending it to anyone else; too many factors to make a general recommendation.

If you look at the design of your toplink you will find that it is designed to withstqand MOST stress in compression. In tension it only has to withstand the weight of an impliment. If that impliment is a ground engaging tool such as a plow, then it PUSHES on the toplink attach point, it doesn't pull....
