For those who own an sc2400...

I've noticed the hydraulic pump for the steering and SVC makes a whine noise when it's cold outside when I first start my tractor... It goes away once the tractor warms up and it only happens when it's below freezing. Anyone else have this issue?

Mine makes noise also. My first solution was to move to Arizona, but since I'm still in Wisconsin I let it warm up about 5 minutes. Maybe also check into a transmission heater. My 5234D had one on but I never used it.

I thought I heard something the other day when I started it up, but wasn't sure what it was. I normally let mine idle for 5 - 10 minutes before I do anything. It probably doesn't warm up much in that amount of time but I figure it doesn't hurt. I remember growing up on the farm in Iowa when it was real cold outside and it was a pain trying to do anything when it came to hydraulics in the cold weather. Living in ND wasn't much better, not to mention yourself trying to do anything.

Mine does also but then it did when I looked at em last winter too.
The dealer I bought from tossed me the keys on a day when it was 5 degrees F and said see if it starts. It did and whined like all get out at that temp. He said its normal for the type pump used. But then I just start mine and let it warmup anyway why pay for the cab and heater if its cold when you use it

I have an older Cub (6284) that hates the cold weather, particularly below 30 degrees. A Cub mechanic once told me to put a torpedo heater on the rear PTO for 20-30 minutes before starting/operating.

mine whines in real cold temps, 20 or lower ,seems to come from steering valve underneath the steering wheel, very small hoses under there though so its understandable, it does quickly go away, thought about switching to ATF for cold weather use, any thoughts? i also noticed another funny quirk, a couple drips of coolant from what seems to be the water pump(only briefly) during cold start , anybody else have that? is it normal? otherwise its been one heck of a diesel powered snowscoop in the U.P. with no chains

probably the hose clamps on the hose to the radiator their goofy spring clamps just dont do it in the winter


just got in (its 1am) been moving snow for a couple hours here it is amazing how much this lil unit will push around
