wow, always somebody in the crowd. There is some truth to what I labeled the thread though. I have a subcompact and many have said its a toy not a tractor. Many debates on here about it. That being said form my experience, if you call a subcompact a toy and not a tractor then that is in fact an ignorant statement. I have said enough about it now because its a ridiculously immature argument. I know my tractor is not a toy and there is nothing anyone can say or do about it.

I have your model and have moved hundreds of yards of material, albeit slow, and have pulled neighbors cars and plows out of ditches and "backhoed" lots of trenches and have had many remark on how well they do for their size. It's not a big machine but continues to serve me well and I could care less if someone thinks it's a toy. Hey, it's my toy!

I always thought those old put put JDs had a lot of power for two cylinders and for sure the sound was better then that screaming Briggs, why cant they make a quieter small engine..

Think I would have put a 670 Pred on it. 22 horsepower. If it's good enough for a lawnmower it's good enough for an old whipped out tractor. Far as a square baler goes, don't take a lot of ooomph to run one once you get the flywheel spinning.

I applaud the guy for his innovative method. Not so much for the unshielded pto shaft though.

I have a sweet Wisconsin TJD that would be a nice fit for such a conversion. For those of us here that like to tinker and have the ability and tools for fun stuff, bring it on.

Rick's knowledge base and logistical understanding of tractors is very broad. I agree with him that your title is degrading but it's your thread.

In regards to SCUTs and toys. When I consider my four tractors and the chores they perform I consider my JD2210 SCUT a toy.

When I first purchased my MF SCUT 11 years ago, I always had a half smile when using it because of the stresses involved with running unfamiliar equipment that can hurt/kill you.

I am not aware of any "toys" that stay on the market for sale that can hurt/kill you...

My TLB with it's smaller tires does much more than my neighbors new larger tire, orange machine with out a backhoe (has no front PTO and about the same HP).

Whenever a neighbor mentions "how much your little toy can do", I always let them know it's not a toy, but "it's just a smaller but mighty TOOL".
