This signpost we built also doubles as our holder for Winter bird feeders. Today's extreme -0 cold serves as a reminder to keep your birdfeeders full. We have mostly Finch, Bluejays, Sparrows and an occasional Cardinal. This week's cold brought in Hawks & Eagles to clean up an animal carcass in the field.

I have several Cardinals that visit my bird feeder but usually not more than 2 at a time. The males drive off any other birds when they are feeding, maybe allowing their mate only. We have sparrows, wrens, bluebirds, finches and cardinals. If I throw out seed on the ground lots of doves come by but they wont feed from the feeder but will pick up the seeds tossed on the ground from the other birds. Some of them seem to know where the food comes from because if I let it get empty, a few of them will come peck on the window as if asking for some more food.

Way South of you, as are most Minnesotans. Nearly on the IA. border... One of my favorite vacation spots is Ely Mn. nearly right in your backyard. Where the Loons are common place.

OK now you've got me wondering, I'm twenty miles south of Mn. border, bought my Kubota in Albert lee MN..
