How many quarts of oil do you have to put back in the engine after draining it to change oil?
I'M changing engine oil in my Bx 1500 for the first time and don't know how much it takes to refill it.

Mr. Brown, having two BX 1500's I would think it is a smart move to order a Operators manual and or Service / Parts manual.

I just did. I have a leak directly under the front axle pivit area with 450 hours. Can't wait to tear all of that apart... (NOT) .... hope it's not too evolved.

Not like I have the time on my hands to do it. But, I'm sure it Beats the heck out of paying out $800.00 to have it done by Kubota...

I changed mine and I put in about 2qts and let it sit and checked and added a tad more let it sit and checked and finally got it right on full, but I can't say exactly what it took that is just the way I felt safe doing it. It worked fine but did take a little oil more than I thought it would.

barryh im certain its your powersteering hose they are a pain to
get loose up front. i would not recomment kubota replacements
at all local hydraulic place should get you a much better hose.

I have 3 of the manuals covering both the BX1500 & BX23.
One of the first things I found out about the manuals after I got the BX23 is the figures aren't correct in them.
That is why I asked the question as it seems to me that guys that have changed fluids a few times in their BX1500's should be capable of giving me the more correct accurate actual figures.
The BX23 took 3.5 quarts to refill rather than the 2.6 quarts specified in the manuals.
The transmission refill was 3 gallon instead of the 2.7 gallon stated in the manuals.
I'm assuming since the manual is off on the BX23 so also is it off on the BX1500,
but I don't have the actual field experience with the BX1500 to make that comparison that I do/did with the BX23 - make sense!

*The Manual says 2.0 quarts not 1.9 quarts.
I doubt either # Is correct however.

The first time I changed oil in my BX23.
I refilled with 2.5 quarts which was as close as I could get to the manuals 2.6 figure.
Let it set and checked and it was way below the full mark.
Next I kept adding a couple of ounces at a time and checking until I got it right on the mark.
By then I had put 3.5 quarts in it.
By getting the exact required amount the first time that was the end of the pour check pour check pour check hodgepodge rigmarole.
I just changed oil in it yesterday.
Dumped 3.5 quarts in it.
Just went out and checked the oil after setting since yesterday.
Oil level is right on the money.

Mike, I already replaced my power steering along with the rest of the hydraulic hose's. The leak is directly under the front axle. I found a small part of gasket hanging down also it leaks after I pour in SUDT. I will have to lift it up and follow the drip to see exactly where it is coming from. Thanks for the reply anyway didn't, mean to hijack this thread.

My guess would be they purposely under state slightly, the amount so people don't overfill or blow out gaskets. But who knows, I would think as a rule most would / should check their levels again after any fluid / oil change. When I buy oil I always buy an extra quart or two anyways to have on hand.

That's what I did 4 years ago when i changed the oil in the BX23 the first time.
I've never changed the oil in a BX1500 so I thought surely of all the BX1500 owners on here someone had done the same thing with their BX 1500 that I did with my BX23.
Evidently nobody has.
All these owners changing oil in tractors yet not knowing how much oil they put in them - fascinating.
Guess I will handle the BX1500 oil change like i did the BX23.
At least then I will be the first and only BX1500 owner that knows how much oil their BX1500 holds. LOL

I guess I was hoping somebody would already have the answer so I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel; guess not/Now let me see what did I do with that wheel reinventer???

1*I do do that but when I know how much to put in it in the first place it simplifys that greatly and eliminates the second guessing.

However I will go and check the container and see waht is left if I can tell. Anyway, if anyone finds out for sure what theirs takes let us know.

Just as I suspected 2 quarts in the manual is wrong for the BX1500.
I dumped in the 2 quarts and the oil level is still about half an inch below the full mark:!.

I checked the container that I used to change the oil and it looks like it will take about 2.5 qts to get to the full spot. Do not just pour in that much, because this may be off some but that is what is missing out of the container.-TPS

I just filled my BX 1500 .
I started out with 2 quarts like it says in the manual.
let it set checked and it was still about half an inch below the full mark.
I next took a measuring cup and put 2 ounces of oil in it and added it to the engine let it set and checked the oil level.
Repeated this process 3 more times and was getting much closer so then went to adding 1 ounce let set and check.
Repeated this 3 more times and it was right on the full mark.
So the actual measured amount that it took to fill it back up after draining out the old oil is 76 ounces compared to the 64 ounces stated in the manual.

you will have to change the bushings in the housing where the piviot bolt goes inand oil rings . Bushings are worn out causing leak
