Kubota B7510HSD(sold) B3200(new 6/15/09)
I am looking for information on where kubota hooked the cab heater hoses on these tractors. I am installing a heater on my b3200 and bought a kit but it requires you to cut the radiator hoses and insert adapters. I am not real fond of this. I would think the cab tractors should have a similar engine set up. Can you help me?
Thanks,
Rob

If the heater uses hot water from the engine as its heat source, and the only hoses available are the upper & lower radiator hoses, what other options exist for accessing the hot water? ...said another way, I think you're stuck with using the recommendation that accompanies the instructions in your kit.

You should have a special adapter for the thermostat housing with your kit; it looks like a spacer where you can connect the heater hose

You will need a t-fitting for the lower rad hose that allows you to splice into it and use the t fitting to run to the heater

Do a search for b2620 cab install and the owner did a good job documenting the process

As a general rule, if I encounter an installation that requires cutting or modifying of an existing stock item, I typically purchase a spare of those stock items so that if I ever want to revert back to 'stock' I can. For hoses, they wouldn't be that outrageous of an expense to purchase 'spares'.

You can find pictures of my heater installation on the B2620 here. Even though I realize you have a different tractor than mine, it should be fairly close to the way heat also gets installed on your tractor.

As for cutting hoses, there's only one hose that should need cutting - the lower radiator hose. It's not a big deal to do the cut (just not a lot of clearance near the belt - at least on the B2620 there isn't.) Just buy a second hose and put it away if you ever decide to remove the heat down the road (I don't recall the price, but when I looked it up it wasn't that expensive of a part.)

I'm not sure where you got your heater kit from, but the kit I bought came from Sims. I should note that I ran into a number of problems with their kit as it really wasn't designed to work with the Kubota engine on the B2620 (even though they "claimed" it was.) The supplied heater control valve was suppose to screw into the top radiator hose manifold, but the hood support obviously hits it (see picture.) So, I ended up having to use a SS 3/8" to 1/2" NPT adapter to connect up a 1/2" NPT turn handle style valve to clear the support arm (plus, the valve is 1/4 turn so it's lot easier to control the heat (and better built) than the original supplied valve from Sims.)

In addition, the kit I had came with a pair of John Deere gaskets for the manifold, which aren't as nice as the Kubota metal gaskets (and they leave residue behind if you ever need to disassemble it - in my case I did after finding the problem with the hood support.) In the end, I decided to buy two new gaskets from Kubota and installed them instead.

Finally, the supplied screws weren't long enough to hold down the top radiator hose with the manifold in place. I had to source my own. I can't remember what length I needed, but the bolts are metric so be aware of this in case you happen to run into the same issue.

The only thing change I made since I posted posted the pictures was to make a custom clamp for securing the top heater hose to keep it out of the way of the fan (in the posted picture it shows a tie wrap, but I wanted use something more secure.) I don't have a picture of it, but I can take one if you like.

Otherwise, the rest of the pictures in the link above should be clear on what needs to be done. However, if you have any questions, just let me know.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the tips every one. But what I really am looking for is how kubota did it on the b3030 factory cab tractor. My b3200 has a fitting built into the t-stat housing and I think I can hook one hose there. I ordered a adapter fiting for it today. I am just curious where the b3030 hooks the other hose. I can't believe that kubota would use a hose splice on a factory set up.
I think my dealer got my kit from curtis cab. it looks different then the sims one. the one I have requires both the top and bottom hose to be cut and adapters installed.

Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems like a strange idea on cutting into the top hose with a T-fitting since you'll be splicing into the coolant flow PAST the thermostat. The aluminum manifold from Sims enables the thermostat to be moved up and tap right into the hot coolant. Perhaps you should contact Curtis directly?

If you do need to, I believe you can just buy the aluminum manifold adapter for the thermostat house from Sims without buying a complete heater kit (not sure of the price, but the do sell most parts separately.) As for the rest of the 5/8" hose fittings, you can easily buy them at an Automotive Parts store, Grainger, or Ebay.

Also, just an idea, but you can get the parts diagrams from Messicks and use them to trace the heater connections for the B3030 if you're looking to use all Kubota parts for this.

Thats a great write you did. I realy like the hydraulic hose covers you put on the heater hoses. Where did you buy them from?

Thanks.

I got the nylon sleeving from discounthydraulichose.com. I believe I used the 1.25" sleeving size to put around the heater hose, so I could easily slide it over the 5.8" hose which is just under 1" in O.D.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

The other option would be to drill and tap the thermostat housing (if that fitting you mentioned for the thermostat housing won't work for you - I'm not really sure what it looks like on the B3200.) It took me a minute to find the post that I was looking for, but here's what another TBN member did.

And here's the picture:

well I found what I was looking for thanks to ericdube's idea to look at the parts list from messicks. The b3030 hooks into a nipple on the t-stat housing and the other hose hooks into a nipple on the water pump. my t-stat housing could be drilled and tapped but i don't think the water pump has a spot to drill. I think I am going to hook into the t-stat fiting and cut the lower radiator hose and add in a tee.
Thanks again,
Rob
