i wonder whats gona happen to the warranty on craftsman tools, since sears is no longer a company itself, they are owned by kmart basicly, it wouldnt surprise me if the decide to drop the warranty on craftsman tools, remember a while back when they tried to basicly do that by changing to wording to the "life of the tool" so once it broke it meant its life was over

Even without the warranty they would still be better than what you get at Wally World. I would think that they would keep the warrenty for nothing else than the sales point.

I have brought back 3-4 Craftsman tools, 2 sockets and a 1/4 in drive wrench for sure and somthing else that I cant think of. I have some money tied up in craftsman tools. Its pretty worthwhile for them to keep it IMHO.

No they are not top of the line, but they do everything I need them to do

whats so bad about the walmart stanley tools, i have never owned any from walmart, but had been seriously been considering buying a set of the stanley combination wrenches from there, i have been unimpressed with craftsman stuff lately, and i realy like the feel of the stanley proto pattern wrenches, i have a 7/16 proto wrench that is the style of the walmart ones, and i love that wrench so had been thinking of buying a set of the walmart ones but now ya have me worried, does walmart warranty them at all or no?

I have all stanley from Walmart. they are fine. Now they offer Stanley Pro. Craftsman might be a little better, but I go past three walMarts long before i come close to Sears

Mark, I haven't bought many tools from Wal-mart, but I've never had a complaint with any of the Stanley tools that I have bought there. I'd consider them at least as good, if not better, than what you'll get at Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, etc.

The Walmart near me sells Black and Decker and Stanley tools,I don't know what other brands they sell.

Wal Mart may have upped their percentage of Stanley since the last time I looked. IMHO that would be the only way they would have kept a tool dept.

I was hunting a Dremel tool and there was nothing but pot metal and plastic as far as the eye could see in the tool dept. The Dremel tools they had at that time were off name except for the one low end actual Dremel.

As for B&D, they have burned me enough that the crap comment will stand as it relates to B&D for at least anothe 10 years /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.

Stanleys are ok, they are just not what I saw at Wally World. I dont go there unless I am sent by SWWBO on a particular mission, then its in and out, no shopping. Things could change in there and I will only find out if I trip over it.

What B/D product got you?

A quick look in my garage yeilds a BD: variable speed drill, skill saw, radial arm saw, jigsaw and a orbital sander.. all 5-15 ys old.. with the radial arm saw possibly being 20ys old.

Circular saw, 3/8in variable speed drill, 1/2in v speed drill, orbital sander, angle grinder is on its way out but that one doesnt owe me anything.

I did use all of them pretty hard, except for the circular saw and the 1/2 in drill. Those were pretty worthless out of the box. You like them, fine. You can buy my share.

B&D did one thing for me. It converted me to Milwakee for any tools that I consider critical.

I did buy another B&D orbital sander. I dont plan on using it much and for what I do a sander isnt critical as in I need it to work NOW.
