Fluid Leak

I have a serious fluid leak on my 3PT. It is coming from the area of the seal #15 (see attached). Is the o-ring #18 supposed to keep the fluid out of that area or is it seal #15? The seal #15 was not inside the connector #7 when I saw the leak.
Any help would be appreciated.

Inspector, sure looks like the O-ring #18 is there to seal the threaded connection of #7 to the body #2, only. The seal #15, would also retain the oil, if this area is a low pressure area like a return or dump side of item #2. What concerns me more is what pushed the seal out of it's pocket in item #7 ? If enough pressure was built up behind the seal, the seal would be pushed out...
Have you tried putting the seal back into item#7 ? and does it seem to fit correctly and tight? Or does it just seem to easily fall into place in the pocket of item #7 ? Check item #7 closely for cracks or deformities of any kind.
A flow chart of the hydralic system for this valve would be nice, wouldn't it? Look at the valve body closely, removed is easier, and following the hydralic lines and circuits, and port/ control valve posistions, try to determine if this area of the valve in question is under system or return type pressures.

Jerry, the seal #15 probably needs replacing. We replace them all the time.

Maybe thats why the previous owner gave me a new one before I drove out of his driveway.....
Wanted to try to make sure that is the part that needs replaced and not the internal o-ring.

I had a seal that was pressed in with just a rubber seal on the inside part. It too gave me fits. I went down and had a piece of brass turned out to fit the inside and outside dimensions and had small o-rings installed. Haven't had a problem since.

Replaced the aforementioned seal........everything is good to go. Actually I "had" to do it today, we got 3-4" of snow for me to play in.........err......work with.

The Man loves his tractor to work with it in 3 dor 4 inches of snow on the ground. Glad to hear your replies. I had some of the same problems.

Actually we had only 3-4" today, but the driveway next door that I help keep clear had anywhere from 6-10" because of the drifting. I know, I know........whats a 10" drift? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
For her it's a mountain though, she's a widow and can't drive the tractor her hubby left her.
