I spoke with Fluid Film co directly and even the spray cans have a shelf life. They said to try to use it witin 1-1.5 years of the date code on the can/container.

I bought mine at the local JD dealer and bought the can from the back of the line and looked at the date...just like buying milk :)

So, what happens to it after 18 months? Milk goes sour as everybody knows. What's this stuff do? I was going to buy eight aersol cans on line, but may buy just four now.

Ive used aerosol FF cans that are 5+ years old with no issues. The Company says there can be a problem with nozzle clogging. I havent seen it in practice.

I,ve used it for years for various things, and found out that it also works great as a penetrating oil for loosening up anything rusty, from pliers to nuts and bolts frozen together over time. Great stuff in my books, and very reasonably priced. I have bought it by the gallon @ a John Deere dealership as well and will by undercoating my 2008 Ford F-150 Limited very soon.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have been following this thread as we just had our 2000 Tundra we bought new Nov 99 frame replaced along with everything else except body, tranny, engine and rear axle so wanted to keep our "new Tundra" nice and rust free.

You can order online at Amazon but Kellsport (an advertiser on TBN) will likey fill the order if in the the eastern US. Their prices are the same as Amazon essentially $45 for the 3 - 11.75 oz cans and one 2.5 oz sprat can and one 8 Oz can of brush on.

So I got mine today and tonight sprayed the complete new frame and bed rust areas top and bottom and used 1.5 cans.

From what I have read the aerosol cans have a shelf life of 1 year due to the propellents used but COULD be much longer shelf life if stored in a consistent temp environment (indoors more or less) and that seems to be the case from what I have read. It likely coagulates in the aerosol cans once the propellent "stuff" is gone especially stored where temps swing from -10* to 95* F. So I would suggest buy what you "need" if aerosol - 3 cans at a time or get a gallon and use the sprayer.

The non aerosol products have an indefinite shelf life again per FF.

All I can say after using it it smells great - wife thinks not.. thats another story. I will use this on the snowblower, ZTR and other mower before winterizing them as what others have mentioned and more.

Carl, if you have a Bond auto near you they carry it.

I've been using it on the torsional springs for my garage doors. As they coil and uncoil the friction would make them noisy. It's been over a year now and they are still nice and quiet.

I'm a big fan of Fluidfilm.

I use it extensively in the garage and barn, and even more on my boats.

There's nowhere worse for corrosion than in the engine room of a boat, and there's nothing better to prevent that corrosion than Fluidfilm.

And it's even edible.

So if you are using it as a truck undercoating, how often do you need to apply it and does it soften or affect the rubber type undercoating?

I meant reapply it. Does it hold up for a year or??

Never have used the rubber type. The frame had wax on it from the factory, but the road salt gas pretty well taken care of it.

FF is nice, as it sticks where you spray it for the most part, but will still run. Best time to do it, is when it is hot, like mentioned above.
