Here is the thread you want to post your rebuild in: Case-IH (and ask for specs).

I cannot answer your questions on specs.
Best of luck to you on the rebuild.

Thank you Don! I'll start a rebuild thread there. Anyone's welcome over to add their knowledge. (i'm sure I'll need it).

It should be a good tractor with a rebuilt engine.

I never asked before but did you try to free up the engine with it all together like you bought it and try to get it to run?

Thanks. I think so too after looking into the power-train further. The rest of this tractor seems to be in great condition.

I did try to free it without a full rebuild by un-sticking the one stuck piston. When I removed the head and oil pan to free up that piston I
found the front rod bearing that was showing bad wear so I decided to fully rebuild. All the other rod bearings and main bearings looked nearly perfect.
The camshaft, valve tappets, block, head, and everything else looks great on the inside.

The combination of surface rust on 2 cylinder walls and some rod bearing wear lead me to think a complete rebuild is the best option.

Since then the machine shop honed the cylinders and said they are prefect and in spec.
Now I am just trying to source all the correct parts, and hope the have this tractor running in the next couple months max.

Gale I just saw you are near southern KY. I was just out in that direction with a friend from Asheboro who purchased two Dexter calves in northern TN.
Once we get our pasture maintained we are looking into getting some cows as well.

For now though, I'm sure the horses will love a well cut pasture! lol

Think Cairo IL and you will be a lot closer to my location. :) The width of KY/TN throws people off. It is like a dav of driving.

We just got into mini horse breeding the mares came out of East KY.

Hi Gale, thanks for the suggestion and input. I think it would bring $3,500 to $4,000 with a newly rebuilt engine at a private sale, but only ~ $2,000 to $3,000 at a farm equipment auction. That's based on what I have seen for sale locally.

I agree about the project part.... and we do need a tractor. Even if I got this running well, I would only keep it for a season or 2 to be sure it's running well and then trade or sell it for something more common.

Other locals familiar with tractors are suggesting I purchase something else more common.

Hi JohnIH275!!! Will you PLEASE, pretty please shoot me an Email tjw173@gmail.com or even better is call me/text at 814-329-2692. I have an international 275 and have a BIG problem and some questions that we may be able to help each other out with. Thank you very much

The 275 shares a lot of parts with the Mitsubishi MT300 including the engine. I was looking at my Mitsubishi manual and comparing it to the 275 parts diagrams on the Case IH parts website and was surprised how much crossover there was between the two. The 275 was made for CIH by Mitsubishi after all. Depending on what is needed, you might actually try comparing prices with one of the Mitsubishi parts suppliers like NCW Tractor Parts & Tractor Supply Store - Compact Tractor Parts. I hear a lot of people complain about parts prices but shopping around pays off in a big way, especially if you can use good used parts for some issues. I have found WEST KY Tractor Parts to be a very good source for used parts. I'm not saying all parts for the MT300 are going to fit the 275 but I'll bet there may even be parts that Case now says are no longer available that can be bought through Mitsubishi parts suppliers that can get them from Japan or the crossover parts may actually be cheaper purchased as "Mitsubishi" parts. Conversely, I have purchased Case parts for my Mitsubishi....it's just good to know there are "other" options available sometimes.
