Tires Flatless Tires

My land in high desert and has some tough cactus like plants and I am thinking about having foam put into my front tires (R4) to make them flatless. I already have a slow leak in one of them with only 9 hours seat time. Any comments, experiences, thoughts? Also, would like to get an idea of price for this procedure and who does it besides tractor dealers.

I had a problem with that stuff on a tractor I bought used. When I checked the air pressure some of that goo came out and ruined the digital tire guage I was using. Any time I let air out, that goo would come out like a kind of light mist on my hand, so I finally changed the tire. That stuff was in sort of a semi liquid state and was light tan color. I think it was probably dissolving in the moisture in the air in the tire, and then coming out like an aerosol. I'm not sure if it was done properly or even who did it, so maybe that won't happen if it's installed correctly.

We have problems around here with locust thorns. I've used slime in the tires on my JD 455 with good results. Haven't put any in the MF yet but will if I have problems. I think the slime or similar products will not be as expensive as filling the tire with foam. Good luck.

After getting a flat on my B2910 within hours of delivery, I decided to get the front tires foam filled. That was almost two years ago now. I am glad I did it.

My cost was about $140 total for two tires. I have no regrets.

I rarely remember the front tires are foam filled, except when I am in a place where I see glass or something else that might cause a puncture...then I do remember and don't worry at all... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got my tires filled at a tire place that my dealer told me about. Don't know if tractor dealers normally do this or not as it seems around here they don't. I guess it takes special equipment/expertise or both.

Foam filled tires are much heavier than air filled tires. Duh! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So there is an advantage as far as improving stability on a slope. I was surprised at how much the weight difference was.

I figured I would wait and worry about foam filling my rear tires after getting a puncture. I did fill the rears with WW fluid. To date no problems so I guess I won't need foam in the rears... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had my BX22 tires filled with Arnco Superflex Soft Fill. The difference I was shown with the Arnco product was that it was much more flexible than regular foam. I think I paid around $1.20 something a pound if i remember correct. It added about 50 pounds in each front tire and 150 pounds each for the rears.

Well worth it for me also as I have numerous locust trees around.

Thanks for the info, I am trying to find a dealer for the Arnco Superflex Soft Fill. Probably only have the front tires done for now. I was told that the r4 rear tires are very thick and probably won't need it, but like Henro, if the need arises and the cost is reasonable, I'm there.

I found my Arnco dealer by sending them an email. A week or so later I got a call from a dealer who, fortunately, was only half an hour drive away. They kept my tires for three days after filling to let the fill cure, curing time depends on the tire size.

Mike, I have to ask since I think we have some of the same plants, and I know after mine gets delivered we will have the same tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Do you know what got your tire. Please don't say a yucca because I have jillions of them even after spending five years tearing them out with a shovel and a wheel barrow.
