Flat tire!

I was driving my tractor out of the garage yesterday, it was leaning to the left. I got off, looked at the left rear tire and it was low. I checked the psi (4.5). I pulled it out enough to be able to inspect it and air it back up. After putting 20 lbs in it, I broke out the waterhose, a rag and some dish detergent. I found the leak. It's small, I think I may have run over a nail. Anyhow, the nail wasn't in it. I plugged the tire. The hole is almost dead center of the tire, directly between the tread grips.

I also found what appears to be a stick stuck through also , just below the hole I found, but it isn't leaking and I didn't fool with it. I know I'll eventually have to get it out, but there isn't enough to grab onto and I think it will need to be done from the inside.

It's going in for the 50 hour service soon, I'll have both the holes fixed then with a patch.

Anyone else running a plug? Is it holding ok. I have roughly 16 hours until the 50 hr service is due, so it's got to last that long.

Any thoughts?

Anyone else running a plug?

I plugged one of my front tractor tires after getting a mesquite thorn in it. and I had two plugs in a front tire on my Cub Cadet riding mower. The first plugs (about 50 years ago) were not very reliable for cars and pickups, but the modern plugs, properly installed, are very good.

I had a couple of plugs in my firestone turfs (rear) on my B7500, no problem at all.

I have a Kitoi and it has had 4 flats on the right front tire and I took them to Discount tire and they patched with a plug and then a patch on top of that and it has worked great since then. Also this was at no charge. hope this helps.

I've had a plug in one of my rear tires for about 300 hrs and no problems.

You will be fine. You can buy a plug kit from your local auto parts store for less then $10 if you want to do it yourself. Just never NEVER plug a sidewall.

Tires are R-4's.

I checked the psi today...holding at 20! As stated, the plug I put in last night is holding pressure well.
