Mowing Flail mower size for b7500

I have a b7500 Kubota - 21 hp. I'd like to pull a rear mount 72" grass cutting attachment. I've had a local dealer recommend a 72" flail mower. My question is my tractor big enough to pull a 72" mower? The recommendation from the dealer is to go with a flail mower because it's closer to the back end of the tractor and will not cause the front end to lift up. Dealer says the tractor should have enough horse power for it as long as I'm cutting at 4". I could put the front loader on for weight, but I wonder if a 72" unit is doable. My first choice is of course a larger tractor, but the boss won't agree. I am mowing about 6 acres of pasture.

Anyone with experience pulling a 72" rear mount mower with a b7500 kubota?

I would say that a 72" flail mower is too much for a B7500. We recomend 60" for 3 pt. finish mowers for this tractor. Maybe a lighter 60" flail (Mott had one that I remember) may work. Remember, heavy 3 pt. weight will put stress on rear hubs and axles requiring more frequent checking to keep torqued correctly.

I can tell you right now that your B7500 is both underpowered and to lightweight for a 72" flail mower. I have been pulling a 72" Mott flail mower with my Kubota L345DT ( 34.5 hp ). Power wise I do fairly good on flat areas and some smaller hills, but put it on much of long slope and it pulls down pretty fast. This is cutting at 3". The second reason your tractor is probably to light is that this 72" Mott flail mower weighs @ 900lbs. I don't know what your 3pt will lift, but I'm thinking that it is probably close to max at that weight. Combine that with your short wheel base and it would probably take quite a bit of weight to keep the front end from floating in the air.

I would suggest a 60" rotary rear finish that carries the mowers weight on its own gauge wheels.

I have a B7500HST and I use a 60" rfm. It is a Kingcuter brand. I would not want to pull any bigger. I have mowed 10" high grass with it and did very good with it.
