I've searched all over and have come up blank. Has anyone modified their flail mower so it can better handle rough/rocky terrain. The rear roller on mine is getting really banged up and since it is rigidly mounted the whole unit gets banged around when mowing rocky terrain. The rocks in my land are just barley above the surface so they don't generally contact the blades but they rattle the heck out of my mower. No real damage but I dislike abusing my equipment in this manner. Thinking about replacing the steel tube roller with pneumatic tires somehow. I know about the pneumatic casters mounted on arms but don't really like that setup. My fail is a 2008 New Holland 918H x 72". Any ideas?

Ho high are you mowing? I use check chains when mowing our pastures to keep the power about 8" to 10" off the ground. The rocks here are like yours, but they do not cause any real damage to my Ford 917 flail's rear roller.
