Bought a used 6' flail mower with a broken gear drive. Apparently the small alum housing didn't hold alot of oil and the small offset gear arrangement ran dry. A new gear drive is very expensive and by counting the teeth it is geared 3 to 1 on the pto. I have a new holland 1 to 1 gearbox with pto shaft that fits like it belongs. There is not enough room at the drive shaft to get the proper speed with a large pulley. Any ideas how to get the proper speed ? It cuts short grass 1 to 1 but not heavy tall grass.... needs the rpm for a clean cut.

Don't know much about the NH equipment, but I wonder if a different gear set could be installed in that NH housing? Maybe a check with NH engineering could help? Sure would be nifty if that worked out for you.
