I just had a weird experience the other day with my Fisher HydroPac unit. There was about 1/4 inch of water in the bottom of the resevoir. It had covered the inline filter and froze up. This will shut the flow of oil off to the pump. Mind you that the plow worked great the day before the snowstorm when I put it on in anticipation of being buried. The O-ring seal on the resevoir looked great when I took it apart. I did grease the O-ring real well when I put it back together using wheel bearing grease just in case the leak is at this seal. I think it was a condensation problem. My unit has a vent on it. I guess changing the oil just before the winter starts would be the cure for this problem. Last winter the bolt that holds the pickup tube came loose and the tube fell out. At that time there was no water in the resevoir. Here I was a year later with a frozen pump filter. I also read Fisher's manual. It says to change the oil annually.
