Mahindra 5035 HST
I ran my new 5035 for the first time yesterday. The ground and weather have not been very favorable so far this year until jusy recently. I was using the draw bar to help pull some 3-5" diameter trees I had cut to knee high. I happen to glance down to see oil dripping onto the floor pan.......pulled the rubber mat back to find around a cup or so of oil. Im thinking possibly the steering pump. Probably a loose fitting because its not alot of oil.
I called the dealer and he is going to have a mechanic come out tomorrow and take care of it. I will post once I find out what it is.

Also of interest is if your dealer charges you for the service call on warranty work. I don't believe dealers are under any obligation to travel to owner's homes without charging for their time.

Thats my understanding from a past dealer I dealt with. They can charge for the traveling. We'll just have to wait and see. The same gentleman that I dealt with when I bought the unit came to get it today. He said that they would put a wrench on all hydraulic fittings. Once it was loaded on the trailer I noticed a distribution block on the right side that looked to be damp, no dripping though.

I got the 5035 back today. The culprit was a couple loose fittings. They double checked the other fittings and found nothing else. I ask what I owed for pick up and he said nothing. He said he does not charge for pick up or delievery once you purchase from them. Sounds like a good deal. I feel like this will be a good relationship with the dealership.

Terrific news about your dealer and your outcome. Mine charged me for pickup and delivery on a warranty issue.

A few years ago our local John Deere dealer was offering free pick up and delivery on any brand of tractor needing scheduled maintenance.

Well, cool job. Post your dealer and give them a little boost. B.

Wow, this is too coincidental...just today I was out on my 5035 and about 2 hours later I noticed some oil dripping from out of the steering column housing. Just some dripping. Was gonna call my dealer, but I can probably open it up and check the fittings.

I have 43 hours on mine now, so I'll be looking at doing the 50 hour service this summer.

Update...dealer is going to have to fix the leaky hose. I took the front panel off the steering column. There are 4 hoses right there, 2 in back, 2 in front, but there is no way to get a wrench on the thing. There is a metal bracket on each side of the hose mounts and everything is so close together, no room to get a wrench on it. I tried all different ways for about an hour...can't do it, and I'm not about to disassemble the entire steering column to do it. Ugh. Dealer is supposed to send out a mechanic some time next week.

So, an update....after calling the dealer back in late May or early June(I forget when exactly) and explaining the issue, he seemed a little perturbed I wasn't able to bring the tractor to him (even though he was clear at purchase time he had a mechanic who makes house calls). I made sure of this because I don't have a trailer big enough to haul this thing.

Anyway, he said he would call me back because he was too busy that week.

Summer has been busy (wife had to have hip replacement) and so a month or so later the mechanic finally calls out of the blue (we had just talked a bout calling them back the day before). She had him call me at work and I was very clear with him to let me know a day he could come out and I can work my sched around it. I was also clear that there are three issues I needed fixed; 1. the leak, 2. the PTO switch needs replaced (have to keep mashing it to get the PTO to stay on) and 3. the rear work light has never worked since I bought the tractor (business owner has told me 5 or 6 times he'd send me a bulb in the mail, but I never got one). I also specifically told him that it will be due for the 50 hour service, that I will do it myself and I wanted a price for the filters and oil (engine and hydro) because I intend to change those even though the 50 hour service doesn't call for it. He said he would call me back.

About 3 hours later the wife calls me at work again and said the tractor guy was there to fix the tractor...huh? What part of "call me back and let me know" did he not understand? I made hasty arrangements with my boss and headed home (none too happy).

On the good side (sarcasm there) the leak is not the hose, but rather the seal around the top of the steering box where the steering wheel mounts. He said he didn't know if they will want to replace the seal or the entire steering box. He did not bring a bulb for the rear work light (or even look at it, for that matter). He did replace the PTO switch, which seems to work.

He had no idea what the filters, hydro and engine oil would cost.

That was the beginning of last week and I haven't heard a peep from them since.

Wife called yesterday and the lady who answered the phone was as clueless as a baby in a nipple factory. Wife said she couldn't even pronounce Mahindra correctly and kept asking my wife if it was a Mahindra we had because they sell other brands. She said she'd have the owner call us back. Of course, he never called.

Wife called today and talked to the owner and he said he would check to see if the steering box had come in (I guess that means they are replacing the entire thing), but the parts guy was out doing something.

Geez, summer is going to be over and I have a buttload of field to cut....sigh. Not happy with this dealer at this point. Their communication is not good and their follow up is poorly lacking. The owner was very attentive when he was selling it to me, but after the sale...hmmppphh.

More to come I guess when/if I ever get it fixed.

Always buy the dealer not the brand. A good deal on equipment sucks when the tractor is broken.
