Had my first opportunity to visit a Rural King today. What a fun store! Like many retailers these days, the shelves were a bit on the bare side, but still love that there's a store that sells lawn and garden, tractors, guns, fishing gear, baby chicks, tools, and pretty much anything one could think of for rural living. Only had a few minutes to look at the RK tractors and implements, but that was fun, too.

I like Tractor Supply a lot, but Rural King is a whole 'nother level.

When RK opened here locally (in a closed K-mart building), we were very impressed and had doubts about TSC remaining open.

initial impressions were very good.

However, the bloom is off the bush. Inventory is a mess, finding anyone to help you is a challenge.

TSC, on the other hand, is easier to shop and find someone when you need help. We think our local TSC will survive the competition.

True, TSC doesn't carry firearms, but at current prices, I'm not buying anyway, lol.

Hopefully other RK stores are doing better.

I have never seen a Rural king store so I checked out their website. Looks like an awesome store, but they seem to all be east of the Mississippi. We just have TSC.

The local RK store is a mess of pallets piled everywhere. The checkout lines are frequently long also. RK has by far the best and cheapest selection of metric bolts. They sell cheap plumbing fittings but their selection of plumbing fittings sucks. Tractor supply isn’t any better with the checkout situation.

Can't go to Rural King without getting a bag of orange slices. 😛

We don't have Rural King or Tractor Supply ... they sound interesting.

In BC, we do have Peavey Mart, Princess Auto, and Buckerfields, but none of them are a one-stop-shop.

Our closest RK is owned by a family who owns 5-6 small stores.
My neighbors grandsons work there.
Should be there today around noon doing our weekly pilgrimage.

Not the typical RK size. I’d say 1/4-1/3.

We’ve been to a full size store (Vandalia IL)…….trying NOT to take my wife back!

No RK in our zone yet, guess it's TSC or road trip.
