Yeah,,never could figure out why people ordered all those spare parts,,,,you can buy anything now,,,its in stock,,,,I got a chinese jinma,,,,had it for about 3 years,,got about 400 hrs of hard work on it now,,using a 5ft hog,,5 ft tiller,6 ft blade,,,no problems other than a couple minor leaks,,none,,knock on my head,,,,gave less than 8,000 for it brand new,,,with a year parts and labor warrenty,[didn't need it],,,,plenty of power,,and I've had it up to front axil in mud and not gotten stuck in 4wd,,,all facts....Now is a used yanmore as good as a new jinma,,,,,,,no way,,,and besides all that,,,used is used,,and can mean anything,,,now when they was new,,,,yeah,,they would be a better quality tractor,,and would cost like a john deere,,,right???? As far as having trouble with them,,for sure,,they all break,,,look up the board under kabota,,johndeere,,etc,,,,,lota broken new ones of those as well,,,,,90% of the things talked about on all boards are minor things anyways,,,my neighbor has a yanmore he's been trying to tear up for about 3 years now,,,[sounds like it anyways],,and its still puting along,,,but he has broken many things,,,most of them were just old wore out parts,,that will happen with age,,,I've put 4 times the hrs he has in those same 3 years on my jinma,,,and havn't been down for repairs yet,,knock on my head again,,,,so,,,,,,it all depends,,,thingy

Thingy. What's with all the comma's? It makes your posts hard to read. Certainly there will be people on both sides of this debate. Good used is better than bad new. Are all Jinma's bad? No. Are some? Maybe. Are all used Yanmars good? no. It all depends on the unit. I would like to see the satisfaction rating on new Jinma's--good, bad, and indifferent. Jinma's are relatively new on the market. The quality is still relatively unknown and can't be told from one unit. Used Yanmar's vary too. Some are rebuilt elsewhere after abuse. Others are reltively lightly used machines.

Only time will tell whether the Jinma's outdistance the Yanmar's for value.

I considered jinmas when I was buying a tractor last summer. The poor finish quality turned me off. When the castings are left on the engine block, and the hood looked like it had received a scuff instead of a sanding, what am I left to think about the internals? I went with yanmar for the history of their diesel engines and the involvement with JD. And, plus, a refurb unit looked better than a new jinma ( but looks don't matter much). Bottom line is, the chinese tractor didn't sit right with me.... it seemed disposable while the yanmar seemed designed to be used and last awhile. anyway, I don't think i'd recommed a jinma.

And, while we are on the topic, I try to avoid China products in general. Sad fact is, when you look at where a lot of things are made, you'll see <china>. I have nothing against china and chinese, but we used to make a lot of products here in the US, that's changin... -arthr

Well,,mine doesn't have all those surface defects you talked about,,,,,,,,,,,,and,yes it would be good if the u.s. got more involved in making affordable tractors,,,but,,,,do to the way we are set up now,,it ain't going to happen,,,,,,,,,now,,that yanmore is not made in america either,,,is it??? So as far as that goes,,,,I personaly don't care less or more for china or japan,,,,so far,,,neither one is strapping on bombs trying to kill us,,,so,,if it ain't made here,,who cares which?? um, it's yanmar, not yanmore...

and, it'll be interesting to see how china plays out as a major manufactoring powerhouse in the next decade or so. it'll also be interesting to see what further happens to the US economy as a result...

anyway, neither related to first tractor topic... i think the yanmar was the right choice!!!
