Its just me maybe, and it hard to compare since I have a much smaller tractor, but on my BX I wish it had the 3 ranges. The low range is great for digging into a pile of gravel or dirt with the FEL but then is too slow to move. Sometimes the high range doesn't quite have enough power. I'd guess if I had the middle range, that is what my tractor would be in most of the time.

Your BX has two problems, low power and small tires. :laughing: This is typical. From TractorData it seems your maximum speed in low range is only 3.7 mph (high range 8.1). The JD 4105 has a low range speed of 5.7 mph and high range of 13. My 2320 (only 24 HP but larger tires has max speeds of 4.5 and 11.3 mph. Your gearing is probably a good compromise given the hardware you have.

Having the 3 ranges is nice. 90% of the time I'm in the "Mid" range (5.3). In "Lo" (3.1) you're essentially in a "creeper" gear. Great for pulling or digging into a hard pile. "Hi" (11.9) is really only used for moving quickly from point a to point b on a relatively smooth surface. It's also good for plowing light snow quickly. I remember reading posts here where guys were complaining about the Kioti CK20S lacking a medium range gear...Kioti added the third range when it introduced the CK25/30S series. Have the 3 ranges won't hurt!
