Tractor
5085m
Hi all, my first question is, would it be better to buy a jd 2840, 4020, or the 4030? We farm 100ish acres, all flat, putting in corn, beans, hay, and oats. My current tractor is the jd5085m with a cab. I would really like to have a second tractor that can match or better this one to eliminate a lot of the extra hooking/unhooking. I do not want a cab on this tractor nor do I need a loader. I have heard so many different opinions, but never comparing the 3 against each other, I do know the 4020 is stronger yet it is an older tractor than the other two, so finding a good one is hard, opinions please.

Can't help you with the tractor info, as they are all overkill on my place. Others here, I am sure, will share advice. Just wanted to say "Welcome to TBN".

At that age the difference between machines will be in their individual history and maintenance. Do you need two tractors in the 100HP class or would a smaller 50-65HP be handier for rakeing etc. and more fuel efficent on a lot of tasks?:welcome:

That's a good idea but we have two old small tractors for the little tasks, I need something to run the jd920 moco, pull the 4 bottom, or run multiple balers at once. So buying a smaller under powered tractor won't help my situation.
