Well, the last two days, I have it on my arms, nose and throat. Must have picked it up by the crik! That will teach me. And I had on a jacket and gloves. Was clearing a fence line. Must have got some juice on me.

Unreal. Be careful out there. Oh, today was 80 degrees. Man made Global Warming, anyone? :) :)

I sprayed ditch banks / fence lines / woods last Saturday. I saw a bunch that had come out in a weeks time.
I'm all bermuda, yard and pastures. Rain and 80 I'll be mowing this weekend. It's coming on strong and early this year.
I've held off on fertilizing the pastures, just because we could still get a freeze. But the next 7 days forecast here puts it in the 70s or 80s, so that gets us to March 20 I think it's on now.

A quick warning for those who don't know, NEVER burn Poison Ivy or Oak!!!
Because the oils become vapor and you can breathe them in and have internal problems, can even kill.

I've had it all over and also on the inside, throat and lungs, I avoid it, or at least treat it like I would a bill collector. When I was a kid it never got me, i used to brag, but when i got in my 20's it was "payback" time. I am MUCH more careful now.

One thing My doc said, was over time your body can build up a resistance to it if exposed often, kind of like the gas they use in the Army. I don't plan to find out.

I've fought a war with pi on my property for 4 years now. It won the first 2, but at great cost. I won last year and it looks like ill have to get out early to fight it this year. For whatever reason i have ideal growing conditions fr kt and am hyper allergic. I rototilled and mowed an acre of it the first year and raked out the roots.... Thought i was going to die after and still have the scars!

Poison oak is going crazy out here right now!

Technu is your friend...!

Also, Technu, and Avon have pre-exposure lotions. I have had some luck with them, but usually forget to put it on...

Robert, I think that is a "man thang" I do the same thing and figure I'll just be "careful" , works most of the time !!

It is funny how some folks seem totally immune to Poison Ivy, and others super-sensitive to it. I get it, but usually only a mild case and it's gone quickly. I have learned, however, that when you use gloves to handle PI, or let it touch your jacket or clothes, the oils get on your stuff and stay there for a long time if you don't clean them. I wipe my gloves with alcohol after handling PI, and toss my clothes in the washer. It generally works well.

And most drug stores now carry the miracle Poison Ivy cure creams that are apparently extremely effective at wiping it out immediately - but at a cost. As I recall, it's about $20 to $40 per treatment.
