Grading First paying job with B2620

I did my first paying tractor job today since I have owned my little B2620 tractor.

I tore down a shed and am building a new one for a customer about 2 miles away. The ground was uneven and messy and there were some rocks and footings left I could not move by hand. I tried to get a guy with a mini-ex working down the road but he didn't want to do it. I don't have a trailer so I drove my tractor the 2 miles (country road) to the site and did the grading and rock moving with my rear blade and front end loader with toothbar. Also moved the debris pile from the old shed farther out where it can be loaded. I think B sized tractor or mini-excavator would have been the only things that could fit in and turn in this site between a huge maple, a garden, a dog run and a stone wall.

It was a bit of an adventure driving on the road but it felt good to at least have the tractor pay for itself this month! :thumbsup:

In Southern Maryland where I live, local laws allow the transportation of any tractor for a distance of up to 10 miles.

I regularly take my tractor up the road about a mile to help my in-laws.

Just make sure that you have met the legal requirements (trasportation triangle, wear seat belt, drive on sholder, or what ever you're local law requires).

My son lives in down town St. Johnsbury about 8 miles from me. I drive there once in a while when he needs some tractor work. I go early in the morning and try to avoid the traffic lights. It does feel wierd. I go right by a Dunkin Doughnut place but I'm not brave enough to stop for coffee because there is usually a cop there and don't want an unnecessary conversation with him. :laughing:

I also live in Southern Maryland, thanks for the tip. I guess I can drive my tractor to the service station about 3 miles away.

I live in western Howard County MD and drive my tractors on the road,(my BX and my Farmall Cub) its still somewhat rural here so most people respect it, just drive up to the gas station or to Highs for an ice cream cone !

I believe the police get free coffee and donuts at DD in most states (my wife's sister is a cop in OK). So that is a good place to avoid on a tractor.:laughing:

The road I was on is narrow and is now paved but not wide enough. There are some steep hills and curves and people go to fast but when they saw my toothbar pointing at them they seemed to slow down.:laughing:

Anyone know if its necessary to have flashers on the whole time?

I used to live up near Essex Center, Vt. The big problem with driving a tractor down the road was when you got behind a bunch of cows being driven to the barn
And the cow flops flipped up from the tires.
