So what's the warranty on First Choice tillers? One each side of my tiller about 1-2 inches towards the outside next to where the 3pt tiller sway bars attach and there's cracked paint, and it's starting to rust. For the most part the tiller is kept in the barn during off months.
Now what about the powder coated paint??
I know it won't affect the tiller's tilling but it's a crying shame the tiller's powder coated paint would do this. FYI I've had the tiller around 1.5 years.

Ken, what can I do?

Go to the TSC store and get some Kubota New Orange. Wire brush the area, clean it, put some primer on it and paint it. This world is not perfect so make the best out of what you have.

I'd be surprised if there's any warranty on the paint on any implement.

Again, Bird said it best. I can't imagine anyone warranting paint -- especially on a ground contact implement.

That's what I figured, but since the paint happened to crack and peel off on the same places it seems to be a manfacturing thing....and next time around I will consider Bush Hog, Landpride, etc.

I think that's generally a good idea, anyhow. I have a First Choice box blade and I'm happy with it but I don't think that should mean I'd automatically buy anything else I need from them for that reason alone. If I check out a rotary mower, for example, I'd look at other brands, too. If all other things appeared equal, then I'd buy the First Choice based on my previous good experience with them and their products.

I'd be curious to hear what you find on the paint warranty from Bush Hog and Landpride when you shop around.

theboman,

Hard to say from your description but I'll venture a guess that it is where the sway arm brackets were installed backwards for shipping purposes. They get removed and reinstalled in their proper mounting position for attachment. Could it be that the bracket or U bolt cracked the paint at these points? A photo would help if possible.

Good luck,
Michael

powder coated paint "electrolic-collogalation" as i call it by has one major drawback mass production the pure amount of painting requirements you go from bare metal to out the door in around 45 minutes..

so if someone's not watching what there doing or if theres any grease or any other stuff it simply won't stick the joy of mass production.. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

at least your only worried about paint i'd be more worried about the welds... among other things.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

never bought an implement i didn't repaint so far..

Some I've seen still at the dealers for sale look like they need to be repainted already. After sitting for a season outdoors I could understand it, but some of these are 'fresh' inventory with rust scabs already.
