first 50 hour service

i have a sx3100 yanmar and for 1st 50 hr service it says to change hydraulic oil. i asked the dealer for the 50 hr service cost and they only change hydraulic filter but not fluid. this tractor has a 5 year warranty on. thoughts on changing fluid?

I'd go by the manual and change the fluid. There will be a lot of particulate in the hyd oil from the gears breaking in.

I'm coming up on my 50 hour service and am doing it myself with dealer supplied filters. While the manual doesn't indicate a need to change the hydro oil, the dealer recommended it as cheap insurance. My attitude is why not do it while you're at it?

Got a quote from the closest dealer to me ( bought from one 75 miles away). The close one is 15 minutes away. To pickup / deliver' change oil/ filter, hydraulic fuild /filter, grease and look over ... $600 ouch?

Agreed. ON my first 50 there were a lot of left over machine grinding that came out with the hyd. oil. The screen was heavily coated in cuttings. I let it set overnight with the plug and filter then pored a gallon of the old oil through a filter back in to flush the rest of the stuff out.

One would bet $150-$200 of that quoted price is pickup and delivery cost.IMHO $400 bucks for the 50 service is not to far out of line..

I would be worried about that machine. Can't they wash their parts?

Have it done by the dealer to protect your warranty. Yes, change the fluid for same reason. Tractor hydraulic fluid will be damaged if ever over heated..mY opinion is that is worth the cost. You won't know that until you have a warranty claim, then you will be glad.. Jix
