I have been running firefox for some weeks now, because internet explorer has been highjacked. Firefox is working very well and satisfies my needs, however, I think due to the highjacking, I am starting to experience some difficulty connecting to my ISP, is it at all possible for me to uninstall internet explorer and if so how do I do it?

VIN, I think the uninstall question is what Microsoft and Netscape were battling about in court. It was Microsofts contention that IE could not be removed from their operating system. I'm clueless what the real story is. You might try "Ad Aware" from Lava soft to remove the Highjacked web browser and also Spybot SD. Both are free down loads.

yup, I use window washer (5.1.0.2) and spy sweeper (v3.2.0) from Webroot. If I do not do not daily, my machine gets real slow.

I had my IE hijacked on me last May or June (time goes by SO fast /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ). I went to the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and double clicked the IE entry. Then I went to repair. After it supposedly "repaired" I went to open another window. Well, when I went to open the other window it was blank! I had no idea what happened so I just re-installed Windows. I will not use IE anymore unless it is for a site that absolutely needs it. If you repair it, be sure to make back ups of your data. I see IE as a stick of dynamite. One false move and KABLOOEY!!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
