Thought I'd share how I mounted a fire extinguisher in my Toolcat.

Having a $20 extinguisher in the vehicle does a lot for one's piece of mind given the cost of a TC.

A short piece of 4" PVC pipe and a bungie cord was all it took. Oh, and I stuffed a rag in the bottom of the pipe to somewhat limit vibration.

Sorry the photos are kind of dark.

PVC pipe. Good idea. Saw a small extinguisher in my shop just yesterday. I will put it in the TC.

Excellent idea for the Fire extinguisher. I was trying to figure out how to mount one and you solved it. Thanks Rad.
Here's another one for you. I want a slide in sander for my TC. Are there any suppliers in Canada? I look on the BC web and they show one but when you click on it it goes to a pic of a front mount. My front end is already busy with a six way blade so need the grit rig on the back. Help?
Tigger.

Check out Northern Tool. They carry a couple different kinds of salt / fertilizer spreaders. At first I was thinking you could modify a three-point model, but then what to do about the PTO?

Maybe you could cobble something together from an old sanding rig off a truck snowplow? The worst part is that the salt is so corrosive on the equipment that there aren't many used ones around.

Thanks for the tip on Northern Tool. There's an excellent looking rig there that might work. It holds 3/4 of a yard so should last a long time on the job. I'm a little concerned about the poly hopper in really cold weather but if it holds up, corrosion won't be a problem. Just have to see what the conversion rate is. Our dollar dropped down quite a bit and the local bobcat dealer wants over $7,000 for one now. A month and a half ago it was $5,300. The one at Northern Tool is only around $3,000. Even with exchange and freight I'll be ahead of the game. Hope they have a harness to hook into my joystick.

I've got experience with a poly hopper, sand and cold weather..........they crack in the high stress areas.

I've been using one for 7+ years now but I've had to replace some parts and patch the tub. They work but they are not as durable.
