I finished the knife last week and today i did the sheath.I tried somthing i have never done before i used a wood burner and put some deer tracks and and a few trees and a fence on it came out ok i guess. Going to give it to a friend of my sons that lost his dad last year .When we were cutting up my sons deer last fall he came to help and learn. He saw some of my knives and told my son later that he wished he could afford a hand made knife for himself. So this will be a surprise for him from me.

I like the burnt designs. What an incredibly awesome idea to give it as a gift to someone who has lost so much. The young lad will surely treasure this for many, many years.

It's looking like we'll just have to imagine what life would be like if everyone was that thoughtful. Great job.

Thanks it takes quite awhile to compleat one but it does feel good to see it finished. Now it's time to start the next one a copy of that cape/skinner for my son. I made a nice hunting Knife for my sons wife to be from an old wood chisel.
It was in my moms junk draw for 50 years or more so rusted we all guessed what it used to be. I thought it was an old File my brother said it was an old wood chisel that my Farthers Farther had. Well thats what it turned out to be. After a lot of work this is what it finished as. The Green sheathed hunter is the one i just wrote of. The 9" Butcher is one of my other designs I forgot the two were in the same photo.

Nice work! The amount of talent on these forums is incredible.(Doesn't it make you wonder how we lost our manufacturing base in this country? It's got to management realted because we certainly have skilled people.) I'm sure your thouhatfulness and caring will have a positive influence on the young man you gave the knife to.

Thank for the compliment, When I was a kid in the early 70s My mom got a subscription to Montana Magazine it was a mistake but it came every so often and I just loved the pictures inside .When I saw your post and where you are from it reminded me of that.
