Finish Mowing with a 2520?

Do any of you finish mow with a 2520? I'm trying to decide if I should buy a X495 to mow with, or if I should try buying a belly mower for my 2520? I'm afraid my 2520 will tear my lawn to pieces, but I'd like your opinions.

I have R4 tires that I grooved to make them more aggressive, no fluid in any tires.

I don't see the 2520 being heavy enough o do that much damage to your lawn but I don't know for sure. I use a belly mower to do nice sections of lawn around my house and make tight turns with my 3520. however, I have the turf tires. I can see r4's making a big mess for me because of weight. I would think you would be fine but let some of the other fellas chime in that have the belly mower, r4's and 2520

My B7800 is about the same size as your 2520. I have R4's on it and it doesn't tear up my lawn when I mow.

I should add, my lawn is all CLAY, so when it rains, its wet for days. Its also hilly, so it will be digging in as I side hill mow. I just think it will cut in, because spring and fall are really wet in Wisconsin.
I'd love to use it tho........... hmmmmmm

I sure not an expert on this but in my experience a reasonably sized tractor has never been something that would tear up my yards. If they get too heavy they will rut the yard when the ground is soft.

I have a 3038 with R4 tires and a Landpride 5 ft finish mower.The tires only scarf up the turf a little when turning real tight but hey, I ain't wanting to play golf on it.

Texas is dry and hard dirt, I'm afraid ours is too wet and soft as it rarely dries out becuase are temps are low.

I live in Wisconsin and use my 2520 to mow. It has R4 tires and the 62D drive over deck. Does a great job. I almost always take the loader off, but have mowed a time or two with it on (no bucket).

It will leave imprints in the grass, but has never damaged the ground any more than other smaller lawn tractors. Used a 318 with turf tires before this, and actually had wheel slippage on some of the steeper parts of the yard. Now I just slip the tractor in four wheel drive before I get there, and back out before I need to turn. No more marks from spinning tires.

I have a 2520 with both a 62D MMM and 72 inch RFM. I don't think the machine tears up the yard due to weight, but if you have to be in 4WD, the front wheels will tear up the grass when turning sharp. If you can mow in 2WD, no problem, but my hills demand 4WD at all times so I have to take it easy on the turns to keep it from ripping out the grass.

You didn't ask, but I'll volunteer that I think the rear finish mower gives a nicer cut than the belly mower, at least on the hills I have to mow, because it follows the contours of the land better.

I have a twin to the 2720 with r4's, I just purchased it late last fall so my use is limited but like anything else i had to give it a go on the lawn. I did notice slight indents in the lawn from the r4's . I did have the loader on when i was trying it out, so i think when i start mowing this spring the loader will be taken off to try to lighten it up alittle. Wish i had turfs just to have them but i have to make due with what i have. Oh yeah and i have the MMM not the RFM in case you were wondering.
