I am getting ready to sell my old King Kutter 60" finish mower that I bought used a few years ago. I would like to replace it with a 72" unit. However I am not quite sure if my B7610 can handle it. As indicated in this forum before, the manual and literature from Kubota gives conflicting information and most of the sales literature for finish mowers lists the max. HP but not the min. PTO HP. Is there any problem with a 72" finish mower on a B7610? I am cutting about 3 acres of yard that is fairly level and normally cut the grass at least once a week, so the grass is not exceedingly tall.
Thanks for your help.

It is a tough call but to compare to the 24 horse of the old B-2150 I'd say you could but I've never tried it.

I run a 60" on the same tractor. I think I could handle a 72 pretty well, but given that you have a lot of experience with a 60, what do you think? You know your yard better than we do. Has there ever been a time where you thought you were pushing it with your 60? I know I never have, but that's my yard.

Tim,
Never thought I was getting even close to the operational limit of the B7610 when cutting my yard with a 60" RFM. This is why I am kind of suprised when all those caution flags went up when checking into a 72" finish mower.

I think a lot of it depends on YOUR lawn. If it is thin and sparce, then you should have no problems with 72". If it is thick and lush and you let it get long between mowings then 60" is going to be your maximum.

This is the type of question that is hard to give exact advice to because each of us have different lawn conditions. Heck on my property I have a wide range of conditions. I choke a 24hp tractor with a 60" deck in some areas, and the same tractor, in other areas, breezes through the grass at full speed chopping it down without any problems.

So please take everything that WE say with a grain of salt, and please look at YOUR lawn conditions and use and determine how big of a deck you can manage.

I think you answered your own question. I would go 72 if that is what you think you want. You can always go slower, raise the deck, take 1/2 cuts, whatever if you need to get through a tough area.
