Bruze
I'm in Ossian very close to Rattlesnake Hill at 1700ft elevation. We sometimes have to push the clouds over the hilltop to see the sunshine. This is our 13th year in a 20 X 24 ft log cabin.
I used to be somewhat familiar driving through that area on the way to relatives. Was at Rattlesnake Hill with deer hunters a long time ago, but I wasn't even old enough to hunt big game then.

I'm "down below the bottom of the valley," but still at 1150' elevation. House is right next to a small creek with a steep bank to the east and big hill to the west. This morning the sun came over the bank around 9 AM, went over the hill about 4:15 PM. I'm used to the lack of direct sunlight by now though. In June the sun goes over the hill at 7:15 PM and I get two hours of twilight. :(

Ha, I also have (had) a 20 x 24 cabin (not log) bought it in 1981, no water to it, no plumbing, fixed that all myself before moving in in April 1982. Expanded it in '89 into a 1300 sq. ft. house with 2 bedrooms (had a female living with me). I heat with wood except during the coldest 3 months or so, when I switch to coal.

Cheers!

Welcome from Upstate, a bit East of Saratoga.

Welcome aboard!
Wife and I just did a several-day roadtrip to your area about a month ago. Pretty country! Visited the Erie Canal and Corning Glass museums plus a couple wineries. Stopped by Taughannock state park, unfortnately it'd been dry and not much water coming over the falls.

Had a great time.

Ha, I've never even been to that park (less than 1.5 hours away) but have seen plenty of pictures of the falls.

It's been very dry here for several months. We've had 3 or so inches of rain the past couple weeks, but we're still officially in a drought.

Yes, plenty of wineries around the lakes. :)

Thanks. :)

I'm in the hills between Honeoye and Canandaigua Lakes -- been here for 44 years. Not tired of it yet!

My front yard a couple mornings ago, it was 24°. A bit warmer this morning at 26°:

That is a very nice area! My daughter lived briefly on the northern tip of Honeoye lake while she did a stint at the Wegman's organic farm. She learned to run a skid steer there, and was "expert level" on that machine.
