What a joke... None to be found used for a decent price, everyone wants the latest pricing, sort of like Anvils.
Looks like I will have to buy new just to get my money's worth.
Even trying to find a dealer is a problem.
i have whittled it down to either a Befco or LandPride, both look good on ruggedness and both are at the mid to low price range for the 60" models.

So far the nearest Befco dealer is Idaho, shipping adds $300 to $400 to the price.
Local dealer for the LandPride but now he wants shipping. Got a price on the LandPride of around $1200 delivered to the dealership now they want $300 shipping, I should have jumped on the LP when I first got the pricing.

anyone know of any dealers in the Temecula area for either LandPride or Befco OR. Maybe someone have a used one just hanging in there without any work to do ? Please let me know !

Thanks

OK here is a question that I am sure has been asked and answered before but...
i have a 28 hp Mahindra Max28, 4x4, HST, can I use a 72" grader/scraper or is the 60" model enough for the little tractor ?

Stay with a 60" unit. Why get one that is really too big and all you do is fight it. My 3215HST at about 5000lbs is about double what your Max28 is. I use a 60" LPGS and it handles it pretty good, but If I don't pay attention and the ground is right with moisture content, I can be stopped pretty easy. Now my LPGS is on the heavy side for it's size at about 800lbs.

Have you tried any dealers that sell Gearmore?

Of have you tried ETA?

Thanks for the comeback... Yes I have looked at ETA and talked to them about there pricing vs shipping. Their LPGS is one of the higher priced units, rugged but the shipping and the higher price is putting them out of my competition.
The Gearmore might be a good choice for my tractor, a little lighter, but to me it doesn't look as rugged as the Befco and LandPride.

I have a 72" land pride unit, and I like it.
Just used it for a couple hours last night.

After watching for months, I found a "good" deal at $1100 and it was like 400 miles away. Luckily, I had family that was going to be nearby (with a truck!) only a couple weeks later. The guy was willing to hold it for me, and it all worked out.

You'll be happy with it, once you do find one. Honest.

So are you saying that his 2490lb tractor is going to handle a 6' LPGS just fine, :confused3: or just a LPGS?

Definitely not. Like you, I have different sized equipment.
Land pride was one of the brands he was looking at, I was "talking up" the land pride unit, of whatever size is applicable.
Also pointing out how patience can lead to a craigslist find.

Ok, just wanted to be clear. Patience can gain you a lot, no doubt, but used LPGSers are very few and far between. I think that even though we TBNers talk about them a lot, the general tractor public knows very little to nothing about them. I just got off the phone with a customer and was recommending one for him to do what he needed to get done instead of his box blade. He had no idea what I was talking about, but said that he would look into it.

Woods also makes a grading scraper.

There's always the option of building one.

I've got $250 of used steel into mine. Made it 36" wide just to look after the wheel tracks and leave the grass strip in the middle. Weighs 600lbs and an extra 250lb plate when I need it to really dig in. I can make my B3300 chug when it really bites in. Without a doubt, I wouldn't want a 72"

I agree with Brian, stick with the 60" at most. You can always cut wider with additional passes but never narrower.

I got the Land Pride 60" GSLP about 2-3 years ago. If memory serves me right, I paid about $1,200 - $1,250 for it. They had them in stock. 60" is plenty big enough for your tractor. Like MtnView said, with the right moisture content, it can stop the tractor. Definitely one of the best purchases I have made for the tractor.

I agree that a 5' lpgs is the correct size for the Max 28. You want one you can pull without bogging down and spinning your wheels. Under the right conditions you will find a good five foot lpgs is all you can deal with.

No stinkin' doubt about that. I have a CL app on my phone that auto-searches "constantly" and while it's a hard term to search, I had multiple searches going in the entire state of MI for months with.........nothing. My wife ended up finding the one I got in northern WI. Guy used it 3 times. I saved only $300-ish, but also didn't pay shipping or tax.

I am finding the used units to be just a few hundred under new pricing, same as you, and then there is shipping from who knows where.

I have located a local shop, sells LandPride and does repairs in just about any tractor, so it might be a good idea to stay local.

Thanks for all of the comments.

Ok... So we continue !
After searching for a while for a used LPGS, I decided to buy new.
I looked at a lot of them and decide one of two look good.
Either the BEFCO or the Home Pride; both appear to be equal except for the weight, the BEFCO weighs in at 550+Lbs. and the Land Pride come in at 525.

Then I conpared the price... Both could be purchased at near the same price but there is the shipping !
The BEFCO's shipping cost from four dealers came in at $500-$600 but when I rechecked the local dealer for shipping of the Land Pride I was told it was included... GREAT! Place an order !

Three days ago I ordered the Land Pride, with rippers, it should be here in a few days and we will see just how easy it will be.
Also, I need to order a rear hydraulic setup from, Fit Rite Hydraulics - fitritehydraulics.com, MtnView !

Congratulations on getting your LPGS Scrambler82!

The top and tilt (I got mine from Brian - MtnViewRanch) makes a huge difference, all the adjustment you could want, all while sitting in the seat.

Unfortunately his products are popular and he makes them himself, so you may need some patience. ;)

I've got a 6 foot LPGS on my CK27 and have encountered no problems yet, but would get a 5 footer if I could do it again. Probably. :D
