Back ground:
I bought a 30 acre parcel that was part of an old dairy farm. The house was in bad shape but weather tight. It's foundation was all but gone and the house leaned a little. I bought it with the idea that I would tear down the old house and rebuild within 2 years. Here it is 6 years later and we are just now starting. Here is what is going to be taken down.

We intend to build the new house in front and off to one side of the old one.
We are building a Design Home modular house. Here is a picture of what we are going to build (minus the attached garage)

Had to move this cedar lined shed (read HEAVY!!!) so Excel Energy can convert the over head lines to underground. To move it I drilled holes in the 6x6 runners that it sits on and lined the holes with sections of cut off pipe to keep the cable from cutting through the wood (again).

This shot gives a better idea of the scale of the shed. I loaded the balast box with rocks I picked from one of my fields and it never even started to spin the tires. Once the shed was up on some left over fence posts I think I could have pulled it with my ATV.

Does the model by the front door come with the new house?

It sounds like it will be a busy summer. How much of site preparation will you be doing? Do you need a new septic and well? Any chance you could post a google earth image?

What is involved in the house teardown? Bulldoze and burn, or do you have to have it hauled away. Is there anything in the old house you are keeping?

I will see what I can find on the GE image.

Site prep will consist of converting overhead power lines to under ground.
Running a temp. eletrical line to the old house. Run underground lines to pole barn and dairy barn. moving the shed out of the way (done).

The septic and well both passed inspection so I can just tap into each when the time comes. Once the new house is up and running the excavator will tear down the old house and make two piles, one burnable and one rubble from basement. I will burn what I can and I have friends lined up to take the rubble to use for fill on their projects. I had thought I would just pull it over with my tractor but I had several people who know something about the task tell me not to try it because the new house will be very close to it.

Things I will take out of the old house are:
Heating oil tank (250 gal half full) - done
replacement windowns
2 year old Carrier high efficiency LP furnace
Iron Filter
water softner
preasure tanks
celling fans
appliances
ductwork (what I can take with out to much bother)
copper pipes

after things burn I will collect the copper wire and remove the junk

The model by the door may be wanting to leave by the time things get done.
I don't think she knows what she is in for...
