Finally made ball hitch for pallet forks.

Having to move trailers around all the time is a pain, plus my license plate on my little pickup is taking a lot of abuse:ashamed: .. I looked at several members idea and came up with this.

You real welders try not to laff too hard ..



I knew I would alway be misplacing the hitch so I welded some small square tubeing to back of the pallet forks to keep the hitch handy..




Could have used a chain to secure it instead of the jambolt and boxed in the front of the hitch, but when moving the GN trailer loaded I need the ball closer to center of the forks. Due to the really flat ground I live on I believe this will work.

Nice but is that "jambolt" the only thing holding it on? If it came loose, the hitch could move rearward (toward the tractor), or worse move forward and slide off the forks. Would hate for you to dump the trailer somewhere!! Maybe you could add a safety chain that reaches back to the fork attachment point and secure to that somewhere? Make it long enough so it just does reach, then there is no way it could slide off the end of the forks.

Why not just drill a hole in one of the forks and use that to mount your trailer ball?

I would just drill a 5/8" hole thru the top of your mount, and then thru one fork and drop a hitch pin in it. Problem solved and very safe in both directions.

That's a good idea but I have to agree with others about the (very high) possibility of it sliding off the tip of your forks. A hole drilled sideways a little ways into the one fork for a register for the "jambolt" might be adequate, but I wouldn't trust it in all circumstances. You could also make the unit into a cap that goes onto the forks as shown and add a chain back to the loader frame to hold it if you don't want to do any drilling into the fork. Just needs a little refining!
