As much as I like the way the new Fords look, they still need to place the marker lights back below the headlights. Even though I don't like the 6.4L in the 08-10 trucks, they would look good if the headlight and marker lights were flipped. Back on subject, I can't wait for my chance to drive the new 6.7L.

Ford F-650/F-750's still use the Cummins 6.7l (same engine in the RAM HD's). If this new Ford-built 6.7l Powerstroke is so great then why don't they put it in their medium duty trucks? The "excuse" the Ford faithful liked to use was that the Powerstroke was made by International and they didn't want their engine in a competing truck. Well now, that's not the case anymore so what's the new excuse...?

At least Ford offers a class 6/7 MDT for their customers, unlike GM or Dodge.....

If you look back a few years all MD truck mfg (except maybe IH) offered Cummins, Cat, and for a long while Detroit diesels as options, because that's what the customers wanted. IIRC, you could get a Powerstroke in a F-650 a few years ago. But since Cat got out of the on road market, and you can't get a Detroit in anything but a Freightliner anymore, you are left with a single engine option, although I did read a rumor that Ford was going to start offering the V-10 in the MDT for those that didn't want a diesel.

Yep, it's Cummins & Allison. Looks like Ford's diesels & transmissions just can't cut it in medium duty apps:

So just so you know where I stand on this chevy vs ford vs dodge issue,--------------- The politicians in my state are worst then yours!!!!!!!:laughing::laughing::thumbsup:

Try coffee.
DMace brings up a great point, you'd think this would be Ford's chance to finally boot Cummins & Allison with these new alleged HD Ford engines & transmissions.

Remind me again. What engine/transmission combo does GM offer in their medium duty?

Heck even the 650/750 chassis is made by IH....in mexico..... :ashamed:.
The only thing Ford makes is the cab, and after owning one of them, believe me, it ain't nothing to brag about.
Maybe someday ford will build something beyond light duty, or something the military might use.

Cummins & Allison Duffster. Not Scorpion & Torqshift.

I'm sorry, what engine/transmission combo does GM use in their medium duty again?

Oh that's right. Gm can't build a medium duty. Or is it they can't build one that will sell? Or is it they can't build one and make a profit? Well whatever shoe fits.

Sir, that rumor has been talked about now for 10 or more years:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:
Dodge better hope that doesn't happen,no one will ever by a Dodge:laughing::laughing:

Markcuda, part of tht statement is true, I have a 08 Dodge diesel 3500 4x4 dually, i like it because of the Cummins, if it wernt of the engine i might be driving a Ford or Chevy.
The Cummins talk about Ford putting them in there trucks have been talked about for sometime, but so has the Cat engine for the light duty trucks also. who knows?

Dodge is what, number 3 on the selling list for the most trucks.
If Cummins was to be put into Ford Super Duty, kiss the Dodge sales good bye:laughing:
I wonder how many people buy the Dodge just to have the Cummins diesel?
1/2, 3/4ths??????? it would be interesting to know;)

It is truly the only reason I would consider a dodge.

What's so funny???

It's the reason I bought both of mine. What is more important than the part that makes it GO??? the seats? the radio? the looks?

I gotta go to work everyday (that I have a job), the powerplant is absolutely the first thing I look at. I'm going on 16 years with only 2 down days ;)

If I was in the market for a gas powered truck, I'd start looking at Ford or GM first, If Dodge didn't offer the most reliable diesel engine (IMO) of the big 3 then I wouldn't buy a Dodge. It is just that simple.

And yeah if Cummins was only available in a Ford, I'd probably be the first in line. I'm perfectly happy with Dodge, but I think Ford is alot tougher looking, and would be thrilled with that package.
But as I mentioned looks/style come second to me :)

Cummins is the only reason to buy a Dodge huh? Well I sure wouldn't want that Cummins trying to get power through the Torque-shift Ford transmission already popping up all over the internet as problematic, or to have the engine in that butt ugly front end that Ford calls style, or have to get into that square interior design of new Fords that still seem to be huge in the front but have cramped rear seats.

No Thanks! I'll take the Cummins attached to a better 6-speed transmission that has proven itself stout for over 4 years and fed to stronger Dana axles all covered by a longer 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. Plus that powertrain is wrapped in a much better looking truck that constantly is praised as the best interior in layout and materials compared to the other trucks, available with more cab options and NO DEF REQUIRED. Lastly, since some people think most power or highest towing capacity mean it's the best truck then don't forget the RAM has 800lb.ft of torque and the highest tow capacity of any 1-ton truck.

All that for less money than the Ford. The Cummins is not the only reason I would take the RAM but it sure does help.

BTW, you Ford fans have yet another recall to look into.

True, I should just let them tell each other how great that truck is. By the time this thread dies Ford will have gone through two more transmission designs and seven "all-new" engines.
