A convoy of more than 100 school busses, trailers, and vans is headed to Western Kentucky from Eastern and Central Kentucky. Should be here by now. Each county donated a different type of supply. I have a list of counties and supplies but it is very long.
That was 37 planes in one day at the airport.
Coach Calipari distributed shoes to all the hit areas.
So many toys are being donated that some kids will have the biggest Christmas they have ever had.
Samaritan's Purse came to my sister's house this morning. They moved and hauled away the stacked limbs that prevented them from getting mail. Pulled all the hanging junk out of the remaining trees. Raked the yard to remove debris. Swept the driveway. Got down on their hands and knees and crawled around yard picking up bits of glass and nails.
One of the group was the reigning Mrs. USA. She came into the house and took pictures with everybody. My brother-in-law was very impressed as was my sister's son-in-law who was there. Sister said it was the nicest bunch of people she has ever met.
So far my wife and I have not accepted anything from the people giving out supplies. I took one bottle of water being given away at Walmart. We did not have any damage. All we have done is babysit so others can work. BUT....the Cajun Navy or some group is going to have Gumbo in town tomorrow. I love good Gumbo.
Also a "world renowned Hibachi Chef" is supposed to be coming to cook for people. THAT would also be tempting.
Several of the stores that have reopened have supplies sitting in the parking lot free for the taking. Shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, etc. just piled up waiting for somebody to need them.
I hear that there are several people doing nothing but filling gas cans and making rounds filling generators. That should stop in a couple days as power is just about completely restored.
Daughter said her husband finally got a good night's sleep Saturday night. He is the computer guy, CIO, at the FNB. Had a week of long stressful days.
Watch the '60 Minutes' video on the beast that was on this week. WPSD-TV did save lives.
