After yet another frustrating spring trying to plow my wildlife food plot with two wheel drive and no axle lock on my '74 Massey Ferguson 135, I finally decided something newer with four wheel drive was in order. Looked at both Deere and NH, planning to buy new, but settled on a '99 NH 1920 fwd with the 7308 loader. It has 1100 hours of previous experience with a local landscape company, but is clean and well maintained.

Went two Deere dealers and one NH dealer. One Deere dealer treated me very well; the other lowballed me on my trade in (by 50% of the eventual trade allowance) and made it very clear that I was an inconvenience to him. The NH dealer earned my business by going way above and beyond what was required and gave me great service.

I took delivery of my 1920 two days ago, and am very pleased so far. Pulling my 2-14 plow is now a matter of pointing it the right direction and letting the tractor pull, as opposed to the constant wrestling with the wheel and tap dancing on the steering brakes with the old Massey. The loader made short work of the rocks in the area where I'm expanding the food plot, and I was able to plow the last 3/4 acre and disk the whole 1 1/2 acre plot yesterday afternoon.

So now that I have this tractor, are there any quirks I need to know about? Maintenance items that need extra attention with this model? Handling idiosyncrasies? I'm not too concerned about general tractor safety and maintenance issues; I've run an assortment of tractors ranging from garden tractors and a Ford 1710 through an old Deutz D6006 since I was a teenager and I know my way around fairly well. However, if there is anything particular to this model or NH in general I should know about, I'd appreciate hearing from other users.

Congrats

You'll love it. The 1920 has been around since atleast 1987 or so and has been very reliable. I've run it's bigger brother the 2120 since 1987 and have been very happy with it. It is easy to operate and maintain. Have fun /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sorry, no pics available - I haven't made it quite that far into the digital age yet.

Loving the new tractor so far. I liked the old Massey, but the four wheel drive on the NH 1920 is making the grading and food plot work a lot easier than it used to be.

Since your tractor was previously doing duty with a landscape company, I'm wondering about the type of tires on it? If you have ags, I'd expect it to be a real workhorse. Good buy! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
