Well, I continue waiting for the new 2020 series but I came across a used 4110 yesterday with 60" MMM, and 410 loader for $12500. It has 192 hours and while I'm not certain, its likely ~4 years old. It seems to be in decent shape although I had my 1 year old with me when I stopped in the dealer Saturday so I didn't get to look too closely before she lost interest.

I flip flop like most between the 4110 and 2210 but have been leaning closer to the 4110 of late. If I bought, I would likely pay outright for used versus taking advantage of JD's 0% financing for 36 months on a new purchase. Assuming I could buy new at 85% list, and factoring in time value of the 0% financing it makes the difference between buying new and this tractor ~$3000 in todays dollars.

What's people's thoughts, good deal or just so-so? No warranty is left. I've never seen a used 4110 or 2210 in the past 8 months around here so I don't have much of a reference to go by. Complicating further is that it has fixed ROPS which I may have no choice but to replace with folding which I know will be pricey. Also I'm not overly sold on the 60" deck design which I suspect will get improved in the next series (maybe just wishful thinking). So not only am I balancing $3000 for old versus new, but likely versus a newly designed model as well. Ok, I suspect the price will creep up some to, but there's also the chance a new 2010/4010 would be upgraded sufficiently to swing me back down a step. Six months ago I would have been much more likely to go for it, now with the new models right around the corner...decisions, decisions...

Also, any rules of thumb on dealer markup on used equipment? I'm sure the dealer is making some money here so the poor guy who traded it in must have taken a beaten on that 4 year old tractor. Guess JD holding resale value only applies to the dealerships.

Also, they are saying my 2000 335 with 290 hours, 54" deck, snowblade, 4 suitcase weights is only worth about $3000. All are in good condition. Does this sound reasonable? What might I expect if I sold to private party directly?

Thanks for any thoughts...

Seems like a good deal to me as long as it is in good shape. You could probably negotiate the 200 hour service into the sale. My dealer had a 2002 4110 hydro, r4s with a loader and 38 hours on it for 13k and some change.

By the way, I would certainly choose the 4110 over the 2210. While the 2210 boasts 3 more HP, the 4110 is quite a bit more tractor for roughly the same money.

I would negotiate some on the 4110 but not expect much movement. While the interest rates remain low the price of steel and materials will only drive prices higher offsetting the rates.

I have the 60 inch deck and have loved it(the cut) and handling. Taking off and on is a bit of a pain but worth having to get a tractor.

I also recommend the 4110 over 2210 if you decide not to wait for new models. I have had both and have never had a moment of regret going up to the 4110. They are both great tractors, but the 4110 uses it HP much better, the 3PH position control makes a world of difference, and the increased hydraulic capacity makes for a significant difference in time on task. 200 hours is nothing for the 4110. That's exactly where my hours are and my machine is a year or two newer than the one you are looking at. Also, the 60" deck is solid in my opinion. It cuts very well. The 2210 does have the advantage of dial cutting height adjustment. The 62C is almost 100 pounds lighter than the 60, which is only an advantage when you are removing the deck.

Good luck with your decision.

ADin-
I bought a used 4110 several months ago and have not regretted it at all! I had to go to NY to get it so consider yourself fortunate to find one here. It is my first tractor so I can't really compare it to the 2110, but I did drive one. I agree with the others who say the HP is used well on the 4110. As far as a new model coming out- well, that will always be just around the corner, and while there might be things about it you would like, I think a 4110 would keep you happy. I know mine does. Good Luck from a fellow hoosier! Jason

You are right. No matter which machine you get, there will always be a newer and better one coming out to replace it. The 4100 and 4110 have been around for several years now and the bugs are pretty much worked out of them. The only drawbacks about the 4110 are no toolbox or cupholder. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Amen to that.....though there is a handy work-around on the cup-holder thing (I think "ducati" is the inventor), that is posted around here somewhere. Basically, you move the seatbelt clip to one of the bolts attached to the ROPS and then you have room for a cup-holder /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Holds a nice cold "soda" /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Where has Henro gone? maybe we could ask him to weld a cupholder onto the ROPS. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
