Has anyone experienced issues with the final drives? Dont know what to call it but its not a Planetary like the M series.

I guess my question is " is the Kubota final drive heavy duty enough for heavy use on the euipment" why didnt they use planetary drives?

Is the MX a real utility tractor without planetary drive gears?

Leaning towards a MX5100 2wd with FEL. I am familiar with the drawbacks of 2wd as this would be a replacement for my 1963 MF35 2wd with fel.

They work fine. They have held up well in the Kubota's. It started with the L30 series and has spread. They are cheaper to manufacture than planetaries. Case New Holland use them on their Farmall/JX type models up to about 100 hp, Landini use them on almost all their ag models.

It gives a longer wheelbase using the same base transmission so larger tires can be fitted.
