How does one go about changing the filters with out changing the hy fluid?
It seems this would be a huge mess when taking the filters off. Or is it a matter of draining the fluid first in to a bucket or two.

Thanks

Some folks have been successful at using a vacuum cleaner on the fill port. I imagine you would have to plug the vent as well.

When I changed the hydraulic filter on my tractor, I just drained everything and then filtered it when putting it back in.

On my Case DX 40 all I did was spin off the old filter and put on a new one at the 50 hour service only lost the oil in the filter just had to add a small amount.
